Golden Gate Bridge - How to Get There
Golden Gate Bridge - San Francisco
Sunday workouts meet at 8:00 AM at the free parking area below the tourist parking area at the Golden Gate Bridge, south side entrance.
Here are more detailed directions. Follow Hiway 1 or 101 North to the Last San Francisco Exit Immediately before the toll booths, go right at this exit into the Golden Gate Bridge Vista Parking Lot and stay to the right. Exit the parking area and go left on Lincoln Blvd, heading down the hill less than 1/4 mile. The dirt/gravel parking area is to your left. If you get to Long Ave (a street on your left heading to Fort Point) you have gone too far. Turn around and head back up the hill.

This week we're at our regular track workouts on Tuesday at Kezar and Wednesday at Piedmont High school.
Kezar Stadium is on Stanyan, near golden Gate Park, San Francisco.
Piedmont Track is just below 301 Wildwood Avenue (Wildwood Elementary School), Piedmont, Calif, 94611. Park on the street and walk down to the track
On Sunday, many of us will be in Sacramento to run The California International Marathon and 4 person relay. You are invited to come up and cheer the team on!
On Sunday we'll also do an informal run at Lake Merritt, Oakland. Be there for 3 miles, 6 miles, or 9 miles if you are training for Kaiser on February 1. This workout may not have a leader, only interested participants.
Lake Merritt - Meet at 8:00 in front of Children’s Fairyland at 699 Bellevue Ave. Oakland
Our workouts begin in front of Fairyland. Toilets available. Free parking is available outside on the street (1 block away on Grand Avenue), otherwise there is a $3.00 park fee. Bring your own water.

Take I-80 E. across Bay Bridge. Merge onto I-580 E toward CA-24/Downtown Oakland/Hayward-Stockton. Take the exit toward Grand Ave. Turn right onto Grand Ave. to 2nd Bellevue at Children’s Fairyland. Left on Bellevue. Park in front of Fairyland.

Sunday, November 30 - Meet 8:00 AM at Presidio Sports Basement
This weekend's run will be at the SF Marina beginning at Sports Basement. Depending on how far you want to go, you have the option of crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. A nice 3 mile course takes you to Fort Point.
610 Mason Street near Marina Blvd., San Francisco in the Sports Basement Parking lot. Meet at 8:00 Sunday in front of Sports Basement. Park in parking lot in area closest to Marina Blvd, away from the entrance of the store, please.
Toilets, free parking, water on route and some drinking fountains. Gorgeous views (absolutely free!)
From I 80 follow The Embarcadero to Bay Street. Left on Bay and continue to Laguna. Go right on Laguna, past Fort Mason to Marina Blvd. Follow Marina Blvd. going West, past the Yacht Harbor. Keep to the right on Marina Blvd and drive into the Presidio as if going to Crissy Field. Marina becomes Mason. Follow Mason about 1 mile until you arrive at the Sports Basement parking lot. Go left into the lot.

Lake Merced, San Francisco - Meet across from the Old Boathouse at Harding Park, just past the entrance to Harding Park on Harding Drive. Hiway 35/Skyline Drive, San Francisco near the junction of Harding Drive and Skyline, the entrance to Harding Park.
Directions From 19th Ave, (Hiway 1) go West on Sloat Blvd, toward the ocean 1.2 miles. Turn slight left onto Skyline Blvd/CA-35 S. After approximately ½ mile turn left into Harding Park (Harding Road) at Lake Merced. Park at the old boathouse.
Toilets, No Parking Fee, Water (in bathrooms and some drinking fountains) Picnic tables and golf course. Dogs OK.

Meet Inspiration Point - Tilden Park, Berkeley at The Nimitz Way Trailhead. Be ready to rock and roll! Toilets and parking are available at no charge. Bring your own water for the run. Dogs OK. When the lot is full, parking is available along the roadside.
This paved trail is popular for its beautiful views and rolling course. There is one challenging hill for anyone going 4 miles or more...
From 580/80 take the Buchanan/Albany Exit. Head east on Buchanan about a half mile to San Pablo Avenue. The street will make a slight jog to the right just before reaching San Pablo. As you cross San Pablo--the street becomes Marin Avenue. Go approximately 2 miles up Marin to Grizzly Peak Blvd. Right on Grizzly Peak, 3/4 mile to Shasta Road. Left on Shasta. Shasta becomes Wildcat Canyon Road, stay right where they intersect. Follow Wildcat Canyon Road for approximately 1 3/4 miles to the Inspiration Point parking lot--on the left.
From Hiway 24, Exit in Orinda at Camino Pablo Road/Moraga Way. Head North on Camino Pablo for approximately 2 1/2 miles. Go left on Wildcat Canyon Road--there is a traffic light at this intersection. Continue up Wildcat Canyon Road for approximately 2 miles to the Inspiration Point parking lot--on the right.

Heading East on I-80 (from South Bay or San Francisco) take Berkeley, University Avenue Exit onto University Avenue. Make first U-turn possible and head back, over the freeway, to the Frontage Road on the bay side of the freeway. The Sea Breeze Market is to the left.
Heading West on I80 (toward San Francisco)Exit at University Avenue and head toward the Frontage Road on the Bay side of the freeway. The Sea Breeze Market is at the junction of University and Frontage Road.
The parking lot is small and dirt. We’ll be able to see each other easily.
Amenities include: outhouse style toilets, free parking, water fountains along the routes, market with food and drinks
Note: One of our group members had her car window smashed and her wallet stolen. Avoid bringing valuables and keep them out of sight.

Meet at 8:00 AM in the cul de sac in front of the Mud Puppy Cafe. Look for the group at the entrance to the bike/pedestrian path away from the dog walking area.
From I80 (in either direction) take Central Avenue exit and head toward the bay. Go all the way to the end of Central and take a right on Isabel and follow it to the parking lot at the end (about 1/4 mile or less). We will meet in front of Mud Puppy's. Toilets, Free Parking, Drinking fountains, picnic tables, and a cafe are right there. Always be prepared for the weather with layers.

Meet 8:00 AM at the beach sidewalk at Fulton and Great Hiway. This is where the race turns into the park. We'll root for all the runners who go by and will jump in to pace our own WOW Team members when they come through. We can also get in a run along the beach if we don't join in the mayhem of the race or stick around at the finish line. The running this day will be very casual. The main goal is to CHEER!

Meet 9th Ave and JFK Boulevard in Golden Gate Park, near the De Young Museum, at junction of JFK and Concourse Blvd. 9:00 AM.
Access Golden Gate Park via 9th Ave. and Fulton Streets. There is no parking in the Park on Sunday. Park on Fulton and walk 1 block into JFK (John F. Kennedy Drive).
Water and bathrooms are available along the route. Dress in layers.
Training Distances:
Always 3 miles at your pace! 5K Walkers, this is your goal for the day
CIM Marathoners - run 9 miles
5K Intermediate - run 60 minutes with hills
5K Novice/Beginner Runners - run/walk 50 minutes
All participants will start off with a brisk 5 minute WALK as warm-up. At that time we will break into our specific training programs and finish the workout which ends with a 5 minute WALK for EVERYONE!

Walk/Run Sports Basement SF - Crissy Field
610 Mason Street near Marina Blvd., San Francisco. Meet at 9:00 for run/walk in front of Sports Basement.
Park in parking lot in area closest to Marina Blvd, away from the entrance of the store, please. Toilets, free parking, water on route and some drinking fountains. Gorgeous views (absolutely free!)
From I 80 follow The Embarcadero to Bay Street. Left on Bay and continue to Laguna. Go right on Laguna, past Fort Mason to Marina Blvd. Follow Marina Blvd. going West, past the Yacht Harbor. Keep to the right on Marina Blvd and drive into the Presidio as if going to Crissy Field. Marina becomes Mason. Follow Mason about 1 mile until you arrive at the Sports Basement parking lot. Go left into the lot.

Meet Alameda Ferry Landing Parking Lot at Mecartney/Shoreline
Meet at 9:00 in front of Ferry Station

From Berkeley and San Francisco Follow directions to Robert Crown Memorial State Beach until you get to Otis Street. Turn left on Otis instead of entering Robert Crown Memorial State Beach. Stay on Otis for approximately 2 ½ miles, crossing the Bay Farm Bridge. Take the first Right on Island. Follow Island approximately 1 mile to Mecartney. Go Right on Mecartney and follow all the way to the end. Turn Left into the ferry landing parking lot.
From San Jose 880 North, Exit Davis Street, turn left on Davis at end of exit, Right on Doolittle Drive, Stay on Doolittle to Otis. Go left on Island. Follow Island approximately 1 mile to Mecartney. Go Right on Mecartney and follow all the way to the end. Turn Left into the ferry landing parking lot.

Directions to Wildcat Creek Trail are from the East Bay Regional Parks -- Tilden Park website. If you get lost, follow signs within Tilden Park to the Nature Area or Little Farm.
From Hwy 80 East
Take the University Avenue exit in Berkeley. Follow University toward the hills, turn left onto Oxford St. Turn right onto Rose St. Turn left onto Spruce St. Follow Spruce up the hill, you will reach a stop sign at the top of the hill, proceed through the intersection and turn immediately left down Canon Dr. At the bottom of Canon, veer left onto Central Park Drive and follow into the parking lot for the Nature Area.
North of Berkeley
If you live north of Berkeley, you can take the Buchanan St./Albany exit off of 80, and turn toward the hills off of the exit ramp. Buchanan turns into Marin. Marin goes up up up, around the Marin Circle, and up into the hills. Turn left on Spruce and follow directions below. When you get to the very top of the hill, you will see Tilden Park in front of you. Cross the intersection and immediately turn left onto Canon.
From Hwy 24
Exit at Fish Ranch Road. Take Fish Ranch Road to Grizzly Peak Blvd and turn right. Continue on Grizzly Peak Blvd. until you come to the intersection of Spruce Street, Wildcat Canyon Road and Canon Drive. Turn right on Wildcat Canyon Rd, then immediately make a sharp left down Canon Drive. At the bottom of the hill, veer left onto Central Park Drive and follow into the parking lot for the Nature Area.

Follow signs, Travel through 1 light, then bear right towards Broadway/Alameda. Stay on 5th. Follow signs. Travel through 5 lights, then follow sign for a soft left to Alameda (less than 1 mile). Left on Central (continue to follow rte 61, Turn right on 8th (continue to follow rte 61, Turn right at Otis into Crown Memorial State Beach

980 W towards downtown Oakland, 880 South, exit toward Jackson Street, travel 1 mile, Left on Jackson Street (you are looping around to get into the tunnel), Left on 8th Street, Left on Webster, Go thru tunnel, Follow route 61/Webster Street through Alameda (less than 1 mile), Left on Central, Right on 8th, Turn right at Otis into Crown Memorial State Beach
From San Jose
880 North, Exit Davis Street, turn left on Davis at end of exit, Right on Doolittle Drive, Stay on Doolittle for 3.6 miles, Stay right to go over the Bay Farm Island Bridge, Stay on Otis for 2 miles Cross 8th Street to head directly into Crown Memorial State Beach.

Meet 9:00 at the free parking area below the tourist parking area at the Golden Gate Bridge, south side entrance.

Follow Hiway 1 or 101 North to the Last San Francisco Exit
Immediately before the toll booths, go right at this exit into the Golden Gate Bridge Vista Parking Lot and stay to the right. Exit the parking area and go left on Lincoln Blvd, heading down the hill less than 1/4 mile. The dirt/gravel parking area is to your left. If you get to Long Ave (a street on your left heading to Fort Point) you have gone too far. Turn around and head back up the hill.
From Hiway 1 and 101 South, after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco

Go right and right again thru a tunnel to the east parking area described above as the Golden Gate Bridge Vista Parking Lot and keep to the right. Run/Walk McLaren Lodge - Golden Gate Park

Meet in front of the lodge near the junction of Fell and Stanyan Streets in Golden Gate Park. On Sunday you can actually park in back of the building if you enter from Stanyan, going south.
The park is closed to traffic on Sunday so parking has to be around the perimeter. Give yourself a little time to park and walk to the starting point.
FYI - This elegant building was built in 1896 to house John McLaren. It is also one of the oldest Mission-style structures in the City. Today, it houses a park information center and an ornate, classic meeting room. Open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (415) 831-2700.Toilets nearbyPark closed to cars on Sunday.
